Girls day out

Johnie and I had a girls day out this weekend. While the boys were off for haircuts and a visit to Dick's Sporting Goods, mama and Johnie girl spent the day thrifting, day dreaming and eating good food.

My sister tried on these vintage boots at a local thrift store. The zipper stuck and we made quite a spectacle trying to get them off.

Lunch at Panera :)

Had a great girls day out! Much needed. Thanks babe for making it possible!

Gary Allan!!!!

Sunday night John treated me to a day and night out for my Valentine's Day/Birthday celebration. We left Sunday around noon and headed for KC. We spent the day together and than went to the Gary Allan concert that evening. This was the 4th time that we have seen Gary Allan and he just keeps getting better. John and I really bond over music it's kind of our thing, so concerts are super fun for us. We just sing really loud and enjoy ourselves.

In case you don't know who Gary Allan is he has TONS of amazing songs but this is the one that is on the radio right now.

Here are some pics from the weekend.

This is a pic from right when we hit the road.....FREEDOM!!!!

Hotel room!

Possibly the best margarita that I have ever had

Here are some pics attempting to get my full outfit. I was in a small hallway in our hotel room. Somehow I look like I have a broken neck in most of them.

And here he is!!!!

 We had AMAZING seats!

And us during the concert.

We had a blast a great way to spend my 30th birthday!

Chevron Bench

I bought this old school desk at a junk store for $10 a long time ago. The flat desk part is broken on the back so it is pretty much just a bench for the kids. It's really more just for looks because very rarely does little britches sit in it.

Here is a pic of what it looked like when I bought it....

So I got bored with it...like I do most decorating things and I decided to spruce it up a bit. I painted the wood white and left the metal black. It was OK but still kind of boring....so....
chevron it is.

First I taped off with painters tape

I wasn't very exact, I didn't measure or anything like that. That really isn't my style. I am more of a wing it kind of girl.

Then I painted the exposed area with a turquoise color.

I did two coats. This is just cheapo craft paint. I liked the look but the color was more bold that I had originally envisioned.

So I sanded.

In the pic below the seat is sanded but the back is not, you can see the difference.

I like the finished product but I still think that it would have looked better with a more muted color. I am trying to bring more color into our living room so this is defiantly one way to get started!

What do you think?

Home Tour Week - Day 4 - Play Room

Thanks everybody for checking in. Today is the last room on the tour, the playroom. This is truly the room where the kids and I are the most.

I have my own crafty corner in the playroom also. I mean, if I am going to spend most of my time in here I should be able to play too right?!?!?!

Hate the extension cord...I really need to do something about that.

The kids' art wall and chalk board.

I converted Jagger's toddler bed into a couch for them to relax and watch TV on. Note to self...needs to be painted.

Sliding glass door that leads to the patio. I haven't always had curtains here and something they stay open but I like being able to close them and make the room feel comfier.

My mom made these owl pillows. I love them!

Some random items on the wall, which is kind of my favorite thing right now. We made these canvases right after Johnie was born. I am so glad that we did, I know that I will cherish them forever, our ages are undeneath.

This view is down the hallway to the bedrooms.

The picture collage in the hallway.

There you have it. The funnest rooms in our house :). Thanks for coming on our tour! Hope you enjoyed.
